Mr. Disney Dilla Continues To Soar In 2023 With His Third Single Of As Many Months

NEW YORK — Friday, March 24th, 2023 — Amir Royale, a polymathic actor, recording artist, filmmaker, and entertainment entrepreneur, released his new single “Pretty Bird,” featuring Abigail Zachko, an ode to self-discovery and key companions in the journey of life.

“Pretty Bird” is an alternative R&B record with indie rock undertones, showcasing yet another element to Royale’s varied portfolio, which already includes hip hop and electronic pop-jazz pieces to name a few. Background vocals are performed by Abigail Zachko (a.k.a. Mingko), a brilliant guitarist and singer from the New York tri-state area who currently plays with Boston-based band Ski Club. Zachko is a graduate of Berklee College of Music and connected with Royale through the mutual mentorship of Cove City Sound Studios renown saxophonist and record producer, Richie Cannata.

The record delves into the struggles of personal growth and adapting to wherever life takes you as well as finding those special people who truly understand you. Royale dedicated “Pretty Bird” to his loving grandmother, Martha E. Oliver, who recently passed away in early February.

“I wanted to write a song about what it feels like to have things said about you and just wanting that one person to know the truth,” Royale said. “That person is supposed to be a battery pack for you, so when you are out of energy — you go to them to recharge. They’re your home base.”

Royale, as per usual, worked on multiple aspects of “Pretty Bird,” including being a composer, songwriter, melodist, co-producer, arranger, as well as mixing and mastering engineer. In addition to background vocals, Abigail Zachko also worked as a composer, producer, and engineer, while providing guitar musicianship for the record. “Pretty Bird” was predominantly recorded, produced, mixed and mastered at Splendor Palaces Screen & SoundWorks (Royale’s home studio in Saint Albans, Queens).

The promotional artwork for “Pretty Bird” was created by painter and illustrator Kay Rey of Artist Key Rey Productions, as well as designed by New York City-based visual arts conglomerate SPECTRUMM Animations.

“Pretty Bird” follows Royale’s 2023 releases of the sensuous hip hop record “Pruane” in February and the masterful, electronic pop-jazz duet “Phonics” in January. Prior to that, Royale released his 5-track Stories of the Lost, Rich & Tormented EP in December 2022, the certified dance banger “For A Day” in February 2022, the thought-provoking masterpiece “Paradox” in Spring 2021, and a flurry of projects in 2020, such as his debut horror/comedy short film Les Poissons Morts, and the “hip-pop” infused electronic hit “Turnin You Out” (which was a collaboration with fellow NJ/NY polymath and pop singer-songwriter/producer DOMENICO). Additionally, Royale re-released his debut 2015 mixtape Magnificent, released the surreal short film drama Please Stop Calling Me (starring A Beautiful Noise Broadway star Kalonjee Gallimore), and acted in the comedy sitcom podcast NEXT STOP. Royale also dropped the soulful hip-hop record “Hold it Down (Freestyle),” and his debut emotional single “People Say” in the early months of 2020.
